Hi ,

Yes i will summarize what i did exactly :

1. created /cgi-bin/neomail.pl
2. created /cgi-bin/neomail-prefs.pl
3. created /home/httpd/cgi-bin
4. created /home/httpd/html
5. /images
6. /neomail.gif & /neomail-big.gif

and edit then edit the /etc/mail.sendmail.cf .
on apache server which is running i addedd the domain name .

how can i make the alias on the apache server ?? i did not make any alias yet , i was just asking .

now am just testing on this machine , but when everything is up and working yes i will make virtual hosting but later not now !

yes mydomain is resolving the Ip

I think i see what you have done. Did you create the /home/httpd/cgi-bin and /home/httpd/html dirs?

Using the IP you get the Default server which is expected. Did you add the Alias /cgi-bin ? if so that will not work.
There should already be a ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ "/path/to/apache/cgi-bin" which is the default cgi-bin for main server.

as a test you could copy neomail.pl to the main servers cgi-bin and try http://x.y.z.c/cgi-bin/neomail.pl but first remove that Alias /cgi-bin and restart apache.

Are you planning to host 1 or more sites on this server? if yes then we need to set-up virtual hosting. if no then why not install neomail under the default server.

does mydomain resolve to the IP x.y.z.c

I checked neomail.conf file and yes there is only 1 / after the cgi-bin .
i think the // came when i copy the files .
i do not know if it is correct or not , but manually i created the :

/home/httpd/cgi-bin , /home/httpd/html
and i manulally
# cp /tmp/neomail-1.25/neomail-bg.gif /
# cp /tmp/neomail-1.25/neomail.gif /
and i manually
# cp /neomail-1.25/images /

now after all , when i go to the IP address of my machine : http://x.y.z.c:80 i get the Apache test page .
but when i go to : http://mydomain/cgi-bin/neomail.pl i get not found error !!
or http://x.y.z.c/cgi-bin/neomail.pl where x.y.z.c is the IP address of the linux machine .

i think i have to do something with my apache configuration file ?? but i do not know what is it !!

is it with alias /cgi-bin to /home/httpd/cgi-bin OR something with /var/www !!!

Ok first you seem to have extra / in paths to some of the files. non of them should read //

edit neomail.conf (make a backup first).

check $scripturl & $prefsurl only have 1 / after cgi-bin.

However not knowing how your apache is set-up but looking at it you have your html and cgi-bin laid out ok.
Does apache server up any pages? i.e have you tested that you can see the default install of apache?

Lets get passed this before we look at the sendmail item.

Setting permissions using chown -Rh and chmod -R...
Copying checklogin.pl to /var/neomail/checklogin.pl...
Copying neomail.pl to /home/httpd/cgi-bin//neomail.pl...
Copying neomail-prefs.pl to /home/httpd/cgi-bin//neomail-prefs.pl...
Copying NeoMail logos to /home/httpd/html//...
Copying NeoMail images to /home/httpd/html//images/...
Setting permissions...Done!

then i went to /etc/mail/sendmail.cf and i add the Tnobody entry .
and when i went to the test link provided i got error message :

from the linux red hat station itsself : NOT FOUND The Requested URL /cgi-bin/neomail.pl was not found on this server .
I tried from my pc ( win 2000 ) and i got : The page cannot be found

shall i do anything with my apache configuration file ??
still the final test link is not working !!

Not seen an rpm for this so i build from source.

http://search.cpan.org/author/GAAS/MD5-2.02/ is i guess latest since its no longer updated and only kept for legacy. (see the Readme).

You need to install CGI.pm.

There may be an rpm on you RH9 disc's , IIRC is labelled perl-CGI-version.rpm (on RH8 its 2.81).

Else get source from cpan.org

Check for MD5.pm as that's required next.
