It sounds to me like he wanted for some reason to be able to edit a different pinerc *outside* of a pine session. Not exactly related, but in my recent attempts at trying to figure out why my normal .pinerc takes forever to start up and a very very similar one (haven't figured out the exact difference yet of course) starts up very quickly but doesn't know the correct width of the screen.. anyway, even though I succeeded in my task by using two separate pine sessions, I think it would be useful to be able to "print" out the setup/config screen to a file. That is, save out the way it looks to the user.
