I just googled grepmail.

My mail is on an IMAP server, not a local mailbox.

Though I see that:

grepmail has been integrated with several mail readers:

pine: grepine, by Cristin Pietsch. Automatically sends the output of grepmail to pine.

but the link for grepine doesn't work.  (Since it "sends" the output to pine,
it doesn't sound like it 'drives' pine to actually search remote folders.)

Interesting idea though.  If we had optional IMAP caches, I could use
this as a workaround.   Darn, I guess this is one of the few jobs for
a GUI mail program.
