My apologies! I forgot that people might not be familiar with it. It's one of the best things to hit the Net in years, and has been around for a long time, without any hoopla. Details are at Gmane.org Basically, it provides a newsreader interface (as well as a web one, iiuc), free, to any list willing to be on it; there must be tens of thousands of them. And Gmane has serious spam defenses, btw. You point your newsreader at news.gmane.org, and use its search function on whatever topic you need. It enables you to skim twenty times as many lists (especially ones that you only really follow 10% or less of) as you could hope to do with email. It also helps find them. Btw, any wild horse that tried to drag me to any mailer but Pine would be instant horsemeat before he knew it; but for news I use Pan instead -- so, I assume, the search function I use is also part of Pan. It's also one of the many reasons I don't just use Pine. Those of you who try to monitor many lists might wish to take a look at http://pan.rebelbase.com/ and try both for a while. -- Beartooth Staffwright Squirreler & Wordcrafter Not Quite Clueless FC5 Power User _______________________________________________ Pine-info mailing list [email protected] http://mailman1.u.washington.edu/mailman/listinfo/pine-info
