Based upon this comment, I think you know this, but just to state it
explicitly..

You can actually put a path in the Save prompt.. e.g. it says it's going to save
"whatever" in your home directory, but you can really give it
/tmp/whatever
or
Desktop/whatever

to work around the issue.  I save things in /tmp/ all the time this way.
(It *slightly* irks me that the prompt still says it's saving in my home
directory, but I see it more like I'm pulling a fast one on pine.)

I was ALSO going to suggest that you could tab complete, but it seems like when
there's a filename there, you can't tab-complete the previous part of the
path.. (which you can in shells for example)

In other words, I was hoping the prompt could be

Deskwhatever
with the cursor on the 'w', and I could hit tab, and it would fill to
Desktop/whatever

but hitting tab just moves to the end.  (At least in alpine, which I suspect
in this area is little changed from pine.)


But anyway, I guess I agree with you, and I'd probably change the default
locatio to /tmp if I could.
