bug in pine authentication

Upon switching to Pine 4.64, I found that Pine now completely ignores the .pine_passwd file, which was used by Pine to store encrypted passwords for your mail servers. Pine normally asks to save your passwords if it finds an empty .pine_passwd file. In 4.64, it ignores the file, whether you have passwords saved in it or not. In my case, that means that it asks for a password 2 or 3 times before I can even send an e-mail, which is definitely not the desired behavior. Is there a fix for this?

Thanks!
