MSWORD attachments not found

I often get attachments in MSWord format. As I try to avoid MS
products wherever possible (guess why!), I don't have MSword
installed, but prefer to use Star office 8. So when I try to
open an MSWord attachmnent, PCpine asks me what to do with it, and
when I then choose to "select from a given list" (or some similar
wording), PCPine is clever enough to highlight Star Office right
away.
But then something strange happens:
- Star Office says
"C:\Docume~\...\temp\im 239200.doc doesn't exist"
- when I then logout of PCpine and reload it,
Star Office does find the temp file on this second attempt.
What must I set in the configuration file (if anything) to enable
Star Office to find the temp file the first time around?
