[Error sending: SMTP greeting failure: 421 SMTP connection went away!] while sending a e-mail with pine..

hello there,
I download pine4.64 and built successfully according to the guide. I didn't
do anything(such as changing the /etc/services) other than building the
software, because I only need to use pine as a mail client and I got the
pine binary under bin directory. And then I tried the followings but end up
with the message "Error sending: SMTP greeting failure: 421 SMTP connection
went away!]" when I press ^X and then y for sending the message.
