I do not enjoy the time to debug & help beta test/develope software, which may not resolve for several years. It has been a while now & I understand the delay, & why, with Alpine. I hope they take their time & give it their best effort. Beats a MicroShaft-job. Besides, ver 1.0 of anything is always buggy, ragged, & needs to settle down, which it never does quickly. I understand Alpine is considerably different in code, so there will be more effort than just an update. But I need reliable & competent email software now - that is why I use Pine to start with. There is no alternative to Pine I can locate, & ver 4.64 is almost flawless. I am not yet fully aware what Alpine will provide users that Pine does not - but that is still developing. Very little is required I believe to make Pine better - short of a bunch of I wish stuff from many users that may be too much anyway - so I am not asking for that. But there are a few features, updates, fixes, patches - probably already documented, that would be appreciated in an updated ver. And a few new ideas that may be possible quickly - maybe not. A complete ready to use package anyway. These UW Pine guys do a great job, as is evident from the history of Pine, & the reliability, stability, features, ... of ver 4.64! Addendum: There is a Pine users group / news group / something out there. Can anybody port my original question to them? And return the results? A head count? Would that help? I am not aware of how to even contact them & don't really enjoy the time to find out. I am only looking for a peanut gallery to provide a consensus of what users might like. I hope the programmers here do not mind my efforts - if they do - please stop me now & lets drop this! I understand what I am asking. But I don't know if I ask too much of the Pine programming team. -- The Best to You & Yours, RossARR [email protected] ---end-of-message--- "No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare." - James Madison _______________________________________________ Pine-info mailing list [email protected] http://mailman1.u.washington.edu/mailman/listinfo/pine-info
