Or: if you have dovecot working, you could stop forwarding mail to 
elsewhere to avoid the deep issues intrinsic to forwarding. Just use 
dovecot for your IMAP server. Keep your mail on your server.

Yes. If you are unable to do your own reverse DNS and cannot persuade 
your ISP to set a proper PTR record, you cannot run a mail server 
successfully.

BUT, it looks like you've handled that part today, if I'm interpreting 
DNS properly.
