actually not. I asked him, but got no answer. I think that the days
when sendmail was _the_ Internet mail server software, and when Unix
was a major platform for interactive terminal users with a time sharing
model of service and your favourite curses-based applications at best
are long over for most people and companies I know of. There, only
admins and mainframe users still use non-graphic terminals.

That makes sendmail compatibility much less of an issue... I guess that
if Dan would update the package today, the requirements would be
different.
