Because this is the default driver for Debian, Ubuntu and compatible distros. That means that basically, out of the box, dspam does not work as it should. I have deep C and C++ knowledge but first I would need to understand what the exact problem is ;-). And no, mysql can't be the default driver. It would introduce too many dependancies, it's harder ton install, etc. PS On a personal point of view, i gave up with the hash driver and installed the mysql one.
