This is the best link I've got for support and info, it's a good group to
share and read other people's stories:

As for me, I'm impassioned because I've been suffering my whole adult life
with "rigor mortis", blown off as fibromyalgia, depression (love that one),
lack of exercise, dietary problems, blah blah, but I knew it was Lyme. My
test results were always negative, because they only tested blood
antibodies, no one would do the second step western blot because doctors and
the CDC think if there are no blood antibodies, you don't have Lyme. Dead
wrong. The bug only stays in your bloodstream a very short time, after it
gets into the cells it hides from the immune system and doesn't provoke an
immune response, trying to diagnose late stage lyme with an antibody test is
pointless.

It was only because of Indi's story, finding the borreliosis in his synovial
fluid, that made me get sneaky and have my knee drained and tested, because
they do a western blot on that. THAT was where it showed up, still not
positive by CDC standards, which are total crap, but it was positive for the
two most specific bands for borrelia. Fortunately my doctor (who I
continue to eductate, LOL) thought that and my persistent symptoms was
enough to warrant treatment, so I started a 60 day course of doxycycline
last night. Hoping for some improvement, but we'll see. Good luck to your
friend, I hope she's being treated appropriately, maybe this group can give
her some inspiration and hope.
