It is a rare rare dog that you will find in a tree. Even desperate 'coon dogs which make every effort to get up a tree after a 'coon rarely get there satisfactorily. And I can't think of a time a dog climbed a tree after a cat -- but conceivably one might get stuck up there if it did. And be barking about it. That barking wouldn't be at the cat, it would be about the plight. OTOH, there are some interesting critters that make some strange noises that one might find in a tree -- and if I were living around there, I would want to know about what they are. That thing sounds like it might be big enough to hurt someone besides a stupid cat. -- Mike Easter kibitzer, not SC admin
