Many thanks for all your helpful responses. My email address is probably quite vulnerable to dictionary attack as some of you mentioned (gazza is a popular nickname in the UK!) but I know for sure someone had it before me as I have had emails from companies to which the previous owner had subscribed (eBay and the like). I have other address which don't suffer so much spam and just created this new one as a spare. Hence I will probably drop it as it is a chore to report all this spam considering I don't really do anything else with the address. I had heard of some people having success in significantly reducing their spam with spamcop so thought I'd try it to see if I could clean up this address. I've also heard of a program called Mailwasher which apparently generates a bounce in response to spam in an attempt to convince the spammers the address in invalid. I am a bit sceptical of this since a) I doubt whether the spammers care about bounces and b) I worry if such bounces could be detected as being false and thus validate the address. Any comments on this would be appreciated. Thanks Gareth
