Actually, for me the original way of using spamprobe was better. With
the new one I was seeing a lot of random text stuff getting through,
especially those with an html link in the body.

What I've done now is to use another Bayesian filter, qsf, in
conjunction with spamprobe and so far the two together have achieved a
100% succcess rate and no false positives at all. It's only been going
about 3-4 days so it's still early, but it's encouraging. 

I suppose this might slow things down unacceptably for a large-volume
site with a lot of users but for a single user it's pretty good.
