This sort of looks like a bug in Python's email package. Googling around 
seems to confirm this, but I haven't yet found a definitive bug report. 
It looks easy enough to reproduce though. I'll dig into it a bit more, 
and see if I can point the email devs in the right direction to get it 
fixed.

Please note however, that the TMDA distribution contains its own copy of 
the email library. That means it won't benefit from any upstream bug 
fixes or bug fixes from your software distributor. You'll need to 
manually patch your TMDA or use a version that uses the system email 
lib. My fork no longer includes a copy of the email lib for this reason, 
so that would be one option. It's available here:
