If it breaks HTML4 > validation but nothing else, then I wouldn't mind adding it. I think everything else in SM validates, or at least that's the idea. Breaking validation intentionally is contrary to the project goals/spirit. At best, it should be a non-default configuration. > However, Paul mentioned in the discussion in thread "Changing STABLE > DOCTYPE?" that a <!DOCTYPE html> DTD can be added to the new scheme > easily. Is that still the case? Then we would also achieve HTML4 > validation. Yes, it's easier, but still requires code changes. IMHO, if some client uses initial-caps on a text input, the client vendor needs to be shot. That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard. (But you can still allow logins in this case by making sure to configure SM to convert logins to lower case (insert caveats about IMAP servers with case-sensitive accounts)) The other thing that is a strong reason not to start using something other than "text" is that you can't just make the assumption that everyone's logging in with a full email address. This fails to recognize all the systems where lusers log into their accounts and all the rest of the administrators who've been thoughtful enough to use the Login Manager plugin. -- Paul Lesniewski SquirrelMail Team Please support Open Source Software by donating to SquirrelMail! http://squirrelmail.org/donate_paul_lesniewski.php ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Keep Your Developer Skills Current with LearnDevNow!
