Non-english characters in subject

I have a SquirrelMail 1.4.20 that, when arrive messages with some 
international character in the subject, but the subject is not formated 
with something like "=?windows-1252?Q?" or "=?ISO-8859-1?B?", folder 
view is not shown.

I can enter to mailbox, and be waiting for large minutes while inbox 
list is coming. Later, only header and few messages are listed, until 
the "bad-subject" one.

It works right with messages with character set notation 
(iso/windows/..), but other messages with non-english characters in the 
subject makes SquirrelMail to fail on listing folder content.

Some solution?
