I don't remember if I -had- to do this for *Lighting CalDAV* to work, but do
know I -had- to for Thunderbird *Addressbook CardDAV* services...

The *SoGo Connector* AddOn http://sogo.nu/downloads/frontends.html took
care of my Mozilla Thunderbird DAV issues.

I think I already suggested to Paul to look at Google SabreDAV PHP Framework
http://code.google.com/p/sabredav/ for handling all the different DAV
format/version/flavor combinations {WebDAV, CalDAV, CardDAV} Client and
Server. Making all DAV version formats work is a thorny problem which
SabreDAV is intended to address. Even with SabreDAV this problem won't be
"simple", just moderate relief. I'm basing my comments on what OwnCloud PHP
developers tell me. I use Thunderbird/Lightning with OwnCloud for Web based
Groupware integration. OwnCloud doesn't do eMail, which is where
Squirrelmail shines.
