server-sdie filter pattern syntax?

Can someone point me to documentation for the matching syntax for the
server-side filter plugin?  (Or confirm/refute my assumptions below?)

My ISP runs Squirrelmail and I need a bit more detail in setting up
entries in the the client/user "Filters" interface.

RE: -- field match option "match with wildcard"
Is this shell-like (i.e. bash) wildcards
- i.e. "*" means any character, not 'repeat'

RE: -- field match using "regexp"
Is this POSIX, PERL, PHP, or ??? regular expressions?

If you can point me to docs so I can answer the Q? myself, that would be
good too :-)
