password change error "modifications require authentication"

Hi All,
       I am using sqwebmail for my qmail-ldap setup,
in sqwebmail ldap authendication is enabled, I can 
login as user and check mails, but in preference
when I try to change my password, it gives error, if
look at my ldap log, the error is

send_ldap_result: err=8 matched="" text="modifications
require authentication"

 I can change the user password as user from ldif file
format.

 what causes this error?, do I need to set any other
configuration settings?
