Help!!! Sylpheed Claws freezes at startup with get messages for IMAP.

I am having a serious problem with sylpheed-clwas. I have managed to 
setup SC for IMAP, but having implemented  the "get messages at startup" 
option causes SC to freeze at startup. I am unable to change the account 
configuration as the configuration menu is not active and SC doesn't 
respond to clicking on any of the menues that aren't greyed out. This 
situation remains the same as long as the program is left on. The only 
way to shut it down is using the task manager in Win2k Pro. Is there a 
file that I can edit or delete that will rectify this situation without 
causing me to lose my e-mails?
