Changing "receive_server" to an invalid name (e.g. "0.myserver.com") should
quickly time out.

You may as well delete .sylpheed\tmp\sylpheed-crashed to prevent the
folder rescan (but it is advisable to scan after a crash).

To track down the cause of the hang:
- IMAP doesnt work without SSL in claws/w32
otherwise 
- Try the debug enabled version from http://claws-w32.sf.net (with debug
  dll pack) and run it from a console window using "sylpheed_d".
