The compiled translations (sylpheed.mo) are utf-8 coded. If you
decompile them using msgunfmt, you have to convert them from
utf-8 to your local encoding (presumably iso-8859-2):
  iconv -f utf-8 -t iso-8859-2 hu.po

After editing, you have to reconvert it to utf-8 again (before
compiling it to sylpheed.mo):
  iconv -t utf-8 -f iso-8859-2 hu.po
