Leaving on POP server & selectively deleting

I have a Perl script which fetches mail from a POP3 server, and will
delete any messages whose UIDLs are contained in a file.  This script
also adds two headers, X-POP-Server and X-POP-UIDL, to each message it
fetches.  My other script then simply scans a piped in message for the
server and UIDL, and adds the UIDL to the file for later deletion from
that server.

I'd like to be able to do something like this with Sylpheed-Claws.  Is
there any way to access the server and UIDL info when messages are
downloaded, so I can store that somewhere?  

I know there's a UIDL file for each mail account, but I don't know of
any way to correlate that back to specific messages.  That file contains
a list of UIDLs and a 10-digit number for each one.  Anyone know what
that number is?

As an alternative, I tried specifying my Perl script as the 'inc'
procedure, but it seemed that nothing happened.  Sylpheed-Claws still
fetched the messages on its own, and my script didn't run, as far as I
could tell.  Anyone know how that's supposed to work?  The documentation
is pretty light on this subject.
