See the statement from Google here: https://workspaceupdates.googleblog.com/2023/09/winding-down-google-sync-and-less-secure-apps-support.html It looks like in order to continue using Sylpheed with POP3 (or IMAP) Sylpheed will need to begin supporting OAuth -- which, according to the last email thread on this, the development release (sylpheed-3.8beta1, which claims to support it) isn't actually functioning correctly. It goes without saying I suppose that the stable release, 3.7, does not support OAuth. If say, by September Sylpheed continues to not function with GMail it appears I will have two choices: move to another email client (one that supports OAuth apparently) or change email providers. I've been with Sylpheed since the beginning and it's giving me consternation... and feeling quite a lot of anger towards Google too. Thoughts? -G
