Hi Dave, On Jul 16, 2004, at 03:58, dave johnson wrote: > somehow i doubt this is a symbiotic relationship in formation, as > delved upon in the pseudo-answer Verbatim: "usually once per day all messages will disaapear from the interface without notification (performing some background maintenance ?) then will return later (usually after a 1/2-hr or so.) Another similar issue is that once every coulpe of days all messages, contributors, lists, attachments, and links for "Zoe:Timeline:Today" will show exactly 19 days earlier than the current day. Similarly, it will return to normal after 1/2-hr or so. Absolutely no rhyme or reason to it, or so it seems. the "reboot windows" *ahem* i mean "rebuild indexes" seems to accomplish nothing more than wasting 5hrs of computing time rather than changing the frequency of these behaviors :)" Weirder and weirder... :/ Lets try to track this one down :) However, I would need more factual hints :)) Here is what happen to retrieve a user identifier: 1. The default identity is retrieved (SZIdentity.defaultIdentity(), SZIdentity.identityWithName()) 2. If it doesn't exists yet, it get created (SZIdentity.newIdentityWithName()) 2.1. At what point, the identity get its UUID assigned. 3. The identity UUID is converted into a string identifier. (SZIdentity.identifier()) 4. This identifier is used by other part of the system to retrieve the data associated with that user (e.g. SZIdentity.objectStore()). What could go wrong? :)) Cheers, R. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by OSTG.
