The app keeps track of what it has already downloaded... try to delete  
the content of  
"<ZOE>/Library/SZ/Storages/535A53746F7265/ 
alt.dev.szmail.SZServiceAgent/"... this will force the app to take a  
closer look at the content of your email server :)

One way or another, this sounds like a bug in the app... something to  
investigate...
