This is why I wrote ZOË in the first place :o)

You don't have to let ZOË forward your messages.

Sure. You can create any address you want in ZOË. It doesn't even have 
to exists in reality. Then simply setup that address as "non 
forwarding" and you are done.

Sure. There are many ways to skin a cat.

Yes. By default ZOË's POP server returns all its messages. You can 
limit the number of messages returned though. Check the configurations:

Also, make sure to setup your email client to "leave messages on 
server". That way, your email client will keep track of what it has 
already downloaded.
