you should also check out two forgotten but incredible bands: bark psychosis
and disco inferno. b.p.'s hex album still stands as a monument to gorgeous
songwriting and it's just criminal that they didn't get recognition. disco
inferno's in debt is 70 minutes of some of the best guitar music you'll ever
hear - piano magic covered a disco inferno track, though they could have
just as easily put the original on their record and few would have noticed.
regarding dif juz, if you like vibrating air, get the "out of the trees"
collection, which puts vibrating air and huremics on the same cd. you might
also buy "mirror pool", because i believe out of the trees is remastered - i
don't think the huremics on mirror pool has the vocal track. anyway. i
think extractions, their next 4ad album, is sort of a letdown if you come
from the first two eps, through "who says so?" (a fantastic but incredibly
rare 12" vinyl release on - what, red flame? red rhino?) and the pleasantly
surprised cassette ("when the spirit moves them"?). the drummer (richard
thomas) - if i've got this right - went on to play in tons of bands,
including the cocteau twins when they played live here in d.c., and moose,
and others.
as for other fraser-related matierals, christ there's a ton, but you'd do
well to track down the ep she worked on with fuel - wildfire. good one.

Hello,
I'm new here so please be very nice to me. I'm also just exiting
pimply youthhood so excuse anything that could be considered
ignorance in the following message.
I have been interested in and collecting tracks by the Cocteau Twins
over the past 2 years (and I really like that stuff) due to a
recommendation from a friend. He also recommended Dif Juz at the time
and I've just managed to find an EP called Vibrating Air which is
very good. I want to know what Dif Juz stuff I should look out for (I
understand they didn't release much). Or should I just try to buy
every release?
Are there any other artists/bands I should check out in a similar
vein? I also like The Smiths (sometimes) if that helps you get an
idea of what I'm into. I'm also interested in this Pop Ambient stuff
coming out of the german minimal label Kompakt but what that's got to
do with 4AD I have no idea...
I have some other questions: Where can I get a history/full discog of
4AD? Why do people discuss Gus Gus/FSOL on here? I don't really like
that stuff too much... I'll add some context another time...

Check out http://www.evo.org/eyesore.html. Gus Gus used to be on 4ad, and
they have some great stuff. FSOL has tracks with Liz Frazer on them.

I've intended to have a good hard listen to their stuff but I have
only a limited amount of cash.

You could also have some other tracks from Elizabeth Fraser on albums by
FELT, Medicine and Peace Together (An album released in 1993). There are
also nice tracks from Dif Juz and Cocteau Twins on The Lonely is an Eyesore
compilation from 1987.
And about minimal electronic music form Germany you may listen to artists
like Microstoria, Pole, Schneider TM, Jan Jelinek, Safety Scissors, Mouse on
Mars, and latinoamerican artists like Gustavo Lamas, Trineo and others.
There are several interestinga labels with these sounds like: Traum, Scape,
Sonig, Mille Plateaux and Frágil Discos (Argentina)
Recently Luaka Bop released and album called The Only Blip Hop album you´ll

what about the one track on Standing up Straight by Wolf Gang Press, this
also has Elizabeth Fraser on one of those tracks, then there is also the
last Massive attack one too, this is worth checking out, this is called
Mezzanine. Also you could check out the Piano Magic too
