Spirea X was Jim Beattie's band after he was kicked out of Primal Scream. He was resonsible for their early ultra-jangly '60s sound ala "Velocity Girl" (my favorite period of the band, honestly) if you are familiar with it. Spirea X had two singles out before "Fireblade", one of which, "Chlorine Dream" was quite good and single of the week in Melody Maker. "Fireblade Skies" did pretty poorly and from what I understand they were dropped rather quickly after it came out. Last I heard Beattie and his girlfriend Judith Boyle (who was also in Spirea X) were in Adventures in Stereo, who are highly recommended. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
