"their faith" was not the typical Muslim faith.

motivation of a sect of a faith with the larger faith itself.

I don't mean to sound callous, but in the bigger scheme of things,
that is pretty small (as wars go).
And it is unlikely they (the extremists) will be able to ever do
anything bigger.

The US on the other hand have killed far more extremists AND non-
extremists Muslims.  We have likely swelled the ranks of extremists in
doing so.
