When you change the language of your argument like that, it becomes
rather easy to wriggle out of tight spots, doesn't it? If you're now
going to say that the death penalty is a "preventative factor," I'll
concede your point. So is life imprisonment. I prefer the civilized
option.

So if revenge doesn't *work,* why do you support it?

I've already done my homework. I'm not going to do yours for you.

Because if you're going to appeal to these studies, you have to
produce them. That's how it works.

Here's what just happened: You said the death penalty isn't a
"realistic punishment." I pointed out that 45 people have received it
this year, and it probably seemed pretty realistic to them. Instead of
addressing that point, you decided to pick on my choice of words.
Unless you actually address the point, I'm going to take it as a
concession.

> **To equate murder with execution is boggling.

There is no distinction between the two except the one we've made up.
Like when a kid insists he didn't *steal* the bicycle, he was only
*borrowing* it.

> I can only assume you never had a friend murdered.

I've had two friends murdered.

Uh, okay. Were we debating the merits of self-defense?

> **No I am tired of you judging me as contemptible.

Well, stop being contemptible, then. ;)

Seriously, I find your position contemptible. I find killing people
contemptible, and I find religious justification of killing
*particularly* contemptible.
