I'm not saying that it wouldn't be true for you, or anyone else, but I'm dubious that many such call are made to the police with the motive that there will be less chance that the criminal will be killed. I've listened to a fair amount of 911 tapes, and most of them are not made in situations that are conducive to giving much thought to one's moral code.
