Re: Death penalty

I would tend to believe that if I call the police in a violent situation, I am
fear of my safety.  (I am referring to an ongoing violent crime, not an after
crime call to file a report)
 
If I fear my safety at the hands of another, and I call the police, I do so to
do my best to ensure that my safety is retained.  At that point I don’t care
about my attacker as much as myself..

I thought I answered that in the sentence immediately following the one you
included.  I'm not ruling out the possibility that somebody could think that
when calling the police, but I don't think very many do and I don't think that
is a reasonable or realistic mindset when calling the police.
 
I'd like to think I have a bit of expertise in this area having been a
prosecutor for 4 years, prosecuting nothing but domestic violence related
crimes.  I'm relatively familiar with the training police get and what their
response should be in home invasion situations.  IOW I'm not just pulling this
stuff out of my ass.
