I feel like I knew Irvin Kershner. What he accomplished with Empire ranks right up there with what Mike Judge accomplished filming Office Space in Austin so the Hollywood suits wouldn't meddle with his film. I feel like both stole a march, accomplishing something they never would have otherwise had the powers-that-be been around to 'fix' things.
