FWIW my daughter returned her first player for freezing issues but her second
player is solid.

And yes, the PS3 plays them very well.

And, by the way, I'm not walking away from the format -- I really dig the hi-def
image, and the movies are very reasonably priced for what you get. I like
Blu-ray, I just didn't realize there were more issues to deal with than a
standard DVD player. I guess it's like having a computer hooked up to your tv,
with all the associated advantages and frustrations.
