Ahahaha! It could be because of the side-effect of capitalizing every letter of a headline: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/27/movies/27arts-STRONGSTARTF_BRF.html Coen Brothers is capitalized here, not because it is a brand, but because most words in a headline are capitalized. Perhaps they are so used to seeing both words capitalized that it doesn't look right any other way. (See also the Wachowski Brothers, which may be an even trickier case, heh.)
