OK. We are approaching the film from two different perspectives.  I  
have virtually no connection with the original and am not a fan of it  
so it doesn't really bother me about unexplained inconsistencies and  
transitions or the likes/dislikes of the creators of it or the  
machinations of the media machine to manipulate.  From my perspective,  
it might has well be named "Hacker" or some such and be a complete  
stand alone film, that is how I saw it.   I can understand better how  
Tron fans could be disappointed.  And I can certainly understand the  
critics with the notable immaturity of the themes and execution of the  
film.  I'd be pretty joyless too if for instance the next Hobbit film  
was to be directed by someone other than Peter Jackson and were to  
disregard the whole trilogy before it, especially if nothing  
noteworthy of creative value were added to such a film to make up for  
that fact.
