I have a hard time thinking any union is a good thing any more. Particular
after what they just pulled in New York.

Actually, the arts is one of the few places I feel guilds and unions still
serve a valuable purpose. I could care less about award eligibility.
Studios are very old school and compensate writers pretty terribly. While
not perfect, I sure wouldn't want to depend on the hope of a generous
studio.

Compile a list of scripts ineligible for WGA awards this year and it's a
Who's Who of great scripts. Perhaps it's my contrary nature, but I don't
tend to care for either unions nor guilds for just this reason.
