A bad think indeed, but it is no different than management sacrificing  
the safety of their workers for profit, or selling harmful products to  
their customers.

Unions, while they certainly have their negatives, are a vital form of  
freedom of association that can be a check on corruption and power.
We shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water.
