It has been observed that one of the interesting things about this year's 
Globes was that, for all the accusations of celebrity whoring, they 
actually picked some fairly off-beat winners, a la Paul Giamatti and 
Melissa Leo -- character actors who do the work (and do it well) but 
aren't the sort of people who make the cover of People, etc.
