The only reason I watched Shaun of the Dead was because Paul raved about it
so (and rightly so, as it turns out). But other than SotD and Zombieland, I
have little use for zombies as they make no blessed sense to me. In fact, I
tend to only like zombie pictures when they movies are about something other
than zombies (in SotD, the movie was about the pub-crawling slackers more
than the zombies, and in Zombieland, the movie was more about Twinkies). So
why would Edgar Wright, who's able to do practically anything well (despite
ticket sales for Scott Pilgram), turn down a chance to helm a zombie-related
show he clearly enjoys? It would be like Joss Whedon turning down The
Avengers (which he didn't do). Does Edgar's reasoning as-stated track with
you?
