Its not lame or a gotcha. Its a moral/ethical question. If Obama really believes the rich should pay more taxes, and that he is rich, he should put his money where his mouth is. As it is he demonstrates that he values the legal aspects of taxation over the moral/ethical ones, and since he is claiming a moral/ethical basis for advocating a raise in tax rates he is being hypocritical. Just like the rest of the wealthy who spout the nonsense that they should be taxed more. If you really believe that then pony up. I don't blame anyone for taking charitable deductions. It isn't a hypocrisy issue. If the tax rate goes up, he will pay more. It's pretty simple. Again, lame attempt at a gotcha.
