C'mon Thom you can say it.  Just spit it out:

Bush did the right thing.

That can't be that hard to say.  

The minutes he took to finish the book and not alarm the kids made NO difference 
in what happened that day or our response to it.  This imaginary choice you 
suggest it specious.

While I agree it was never a fair thing for him to have taken hits for, I also 
don't buy that it was a choice between sitting it out and running out like a 
madman. And Bush defenders always seem to frame it that way.  There were other 
options to avoid scaring the kids.  But you cannot turn back time and there are 
far worse choices he could have made and the one he did opt for is 
understandable.
