While I agree it was never a fair thing for him to have taken hits for, I
also don't buy that it was a choice between sitting it out and running out
like a madman. And Bush defenders always seem to frame it that way. 

***well I disagree, so do his critics.  They always have said that he sat
there paralyzed with indecision and it showed a lack of leadership.   

 There were other options to avoid scaring the kids.
