Did you get a 1 or a 2? I got a B&N NOOK Color, which I quickly turned into a straight-up Android tablet by loading the CyanogenMod 2.3.3 Gingerbread OS. Now I'm reading my Kindle books in the regular Kindle app. I have internet WiFi access, have full access to the Android Market, and, yes, can play Angry Birds. It's lighter than an iPad but heavier than a Kindle. I have a leather cover which doubles as a stand. For $249, I'm really enjoying the purchase.
