>Sure, there are others, but for the purposes of this argument, I only wanted to >make a distinction between who I believe Frank is actually addressing (group >2). and some of the rest of the evangelical world (the ignorant) in order to >shield them somewhat from his rebuke.< Oh there I think you are 100% wrong. Franky isn't addressing anyone in the religious camp of things, regardless of denomination, he's shooting for the NYT, anti-religious, Huffpo, etc. audience, by tweaking the nose of the religious. Hard to see how anyone can miss that. That is what I think makes is in such poor taste. If he was actually trying to reach evangelicals or his father's adherents to call them to account it would be one thing but he is trying to reach and appeal to an entirely different crowd, and using the evangelicals/father's adherents as his foil. >I'm not being intentionally arrogant. I'm just stating the facts as I see >them. I think most evangelicals are ignorant (unaware, unknowledgeable) of the >nature of God and Christianity in general.< I think you are displaying your own ignorance there. You may be able to speak for the corner of evangelicals you were exposed to but to extrapolate that to "most" evangelicals, especially as to the their understanding of the "nature of God" displays a very willful, if not purposeful ignorance. Unless of course are saying that you know the true nature of God and nobody else does, unless they agree with you. That would make you sound very much like an evangelical wouldn't it?
