Re: Hosting

Well, let's not be too hasty here.

I mean, first we have a few different people who want to take over the job of presiding over this list.  (I would not necessarily be opposed to doing that myself, depending on what was involved.)

Second, we have the question of *how* this list should be maintained: on one of the free services, or another service, or whatever.

I think we should try to get some consensus on these things before anyone "says the word".

Re: the freebie services, the fact that a yahoogroup already exists leads me to think that it might be good to just return to that list, so that our resources and/or archives aren't *too* far-flung.

On the other hand, Yahoo! doesn't seem to be very good at holding on to things for long -- they've shut down Yahoo! Photos, which is where I once stored the photos of Thom, Paul, Bruce and myself from the summer of 2000 -- and they've shut down Geocities, which is where some of the coolest, earliest TST fanboy sites used to be.  Who knows what *else* they might shut down in the end?

So maybe Google would be better.  Google recently tried to shut down Google Video, since the company does after all own YouTube too, but after a bit of an outcry they sent out an e-mail letting everyone know that the videos hosted on Google Video would remain there after all.  So they seem a bit more responsive, and a bit more willing to hold on to things online.
